Many years ago, the Studio City Film Festival's first home was the CAP Theater on Ventura, which was technically in Sherman Oaks. So, in a nod to Sherman Oaks, we decided to name our award "The Shermie."

Richard is a legendary actor who has appeared in many movies and television shows over the years, including “Poltergeist, “Good Times,” “Dirty Harry,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland” (as Joe Jackson), “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” “Wag the Dog,” “All My Children,” “The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd,” “Dynasty,” and many, many others.
Currently, Richard runs the WACO Theater in North Hollywood He has also directed many projects, including "Black Terror" which is screening at this year's festival.
